SOCCSKSARGEN’S entries to the National Literacy Awards, both coming from the province of Sarangani, won 2nd and 3rd prizes during the awarding ceremony held in Mandaluyong City, December 1. Conrado and Ladislawa Alcantara Foundation, Inc. (CLAFI), bagged 2nd place in the non-government organizations category, bringing home a cash prize of Php 80,000.00 and a trophy. In the local government units category, the municipality of Malungon garnered 3rd place with a cash prize of Php 60,000 plus a trophy. The 2022 National Literacy Awards aims to recognize best literacy practices carried out by local government units and nongovernment organizations that help alleviate poverty, provide livelihood opportunities, address welfare needs, promote freedom, and make education facilities accessible, among others.
