Young Sarangan Researchers bag gold award from Young Inventor's Journal

 A team of Senior High School learners from Alabel National Science High School bagged a gold medal from the Young Inventor’s Journal for their policy paper on How to Rebuild a Better World Post COVID-19.

The team composed of Paul John delos Reyes, Pearl Angeli Santander, Krystell Ferrer, Darlene Sarabosquez, and Natasha Loot is the only qualifier from the Philippines that made it to the Top 10 out of over 100 entries from different countries.


The team presented their paper virtually during the online defense, April 17.

The team re-imagined education post-pandemic and drafted a policy for curriculum and pedagogical transformation.

The competition was organized by the Association of Science, Technology and Innovation (ASTI) is a Malaysia-based non-governmental and non-profit-oriented organization (NGO) that seeks to empower children and youth through various science-based and skills-development projects.

The competition welcomed entries from participants 18-40 years old from anywhere in the world.

The competition began in January where participants submitted paper proposals, which were reviewed and shortlisted by the board of judges.

In February, the organizers conducted online training for the qualified.

On April 17 an online defense was conducted and on April 21, the winners were announced and the team from Alabel National Science High School was awarded a gold medal.

The team was coached by Shiela P. Butil, PhD. 

Maximo R. Cabanlit, Principal of Alabel National Science High School is proud of the learners because they continue to achieve despite the pandemic.

Another team of researchers also made it to the Top 15 of imake.wemake project of the Department of Science and Technology, which will have its final presentation and awarding later this month.
