Usec. Cabral, Asec. Garma highlight policy adjustments on school effectiveness

"Let us make it more harmonized and not an additional burden."

Dir. Wilfredo Cabral, OIC of the Office of the Undersecretary for Bureau of Human Resource and Organizational Development explained the necessity of changes in the policy of the School-Based Management (SBM) implementation.

In the 4th Regional Management Committee meeting of DepEd Region XII held today in Libungan, North Cotabato, Cabral said that the SBM should not just be a collection of MOVs.

"It must be felt," he said.

"We are revising the SBM so we can revitalize the intent of RA 9155" he added.

The intent, according to him, is decentralization.

Cabral also explained that to make this happen, there needs to be a strengthening of the School Governance Council (SGC).

In addition, Cabral announced that there also policy changes in the recruitment, selection, and   placement process, which involves changing the DepEd Merit Selection Plan to make it more responsive to the changing needs of the department and better anchored on the DepEd strategic directions.

Meanwhile, Asec. Malcolm Garma of the National Sports Academy and of Field Operations also joined the mancom meeting via zoom together with other officials and personal from DepEd Region XII.

He said that all the policy changes are important in order to improve school effectiveness.

"At the end of the day, we would be accounted by the achievements of our learners," he said.
