DepEd Sarangani bags top honors in CSC anniversary photo contest

Not just one, but two of the best photos in the Regional Eliminations of the Civil Service Commission’s online photography competition were taken by two artists from the Schools Division of Sarangani.

Darryl B. Soncados, senior high school teacher at Glan School of Arts and Trades bagged this year’s top prize with his entry entitled, “Resiliency in Honing Future Leaders.”

“The CSC’s theme for this year is about resiliency. I guess, whether we like it or not, tayo sa DepEd naging expert na in adapting our curriculum and instruction para matugunan ang pangangailangan ng kabataan. In the photo, I am recognizing that not only the teachers have been resilient, but also the learners,” Soncados said about the inspiration for his winning photo.

Jonathan B. Agreda, Administrative Officer II, who is assigned at the Curriculum Implementation Division, submitted a photo of a teacher and a volunteer who are assisting a learner during the Brigada Pagbasa, an initiative to bridge the gap in learning brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This award is for those who trusted all our capabilities and potential. For others, it may have been a simple contest, but for us, it means a lot. There are people who push us to do what we love and that inspires us,” Agreda said.

Soncados and Agreda received cash prizes of Php 10,000.00 and Php 8,000.00, respectively.

Their entries, including the third placer, will be the official entries of Region XII to the national level.
