The monitoring conducted by the Schools Division of Sarangani in the first two weeks of the school year 2022-2023 has revealed the need for more classrooms and teachers.
“The influx of learners as face-to-face classes resumed has resulted in crowded classrooms,” Curriculum and Instruction Division Chief Donna S. Panes said.
While classroom shortage is a concern that should be addressed by the central office, school heads are finding ways to accommodate the learners.
“Some schools are utilizing their covered courts as classrooms and built make-shift classrooms to address the classroom shortage,” Panes added.
Aside from classrooms, Schools Division Superintendent Gildo. G. Mosqueda, CEO VI, also noted that the need for teachers in the senior high school level is “severe.”

“Our goal is the equitable distribution of teachers. Some schools have excess teachers. We will be reassigning them to schools that are in need of teachers,” he said.
He said that he studied the data from the planning office carefully so that the teachers will be deployed in schools where they are really needed.
“We have already deployed all the newly-hired 59 teachers for the senior high school, but we still need more,” Mosqueda said.
Referencing the Filipino saying “Kapag maiksi ang kumot, matutong mamaluktot,” Mosqueda said that while waiting for new teaching positions from the DepEd Central Office, the Division Office is doing all possible actions to address the needs.
