Tangali Integrated School receives 170 tablets from DepEd XII

Learners at Tangali Integrated School in North Malungon district will soon experience digital learning as the Department of Education Region XII turned over 170 tablets that they could use in their classes.

As part of DepEd's basic education learning continuity plan, DepEd XII procured tablets to be distributed to identified schools in the region, with a preference for schools in far-flung areas, whose learners are usually deprived of learning opportunities enjoyed by learners in more accessible schools.

The tablets contain digitized self-learning modules and stories that are intended to support the development of the learners' reading skills and address the unavailability of books and other reading materials.

The Schools Division of Sarangani has committed to enhancing the learners' use of said tablets by adding interactive learning materials such as automated quizzes and videos that are currently being developed.

Assistant Regional Director Rebonfamil R. Baguio, Schools Division Superintendent Gildo G. Mosqueda, and Malungon Mayor Atty. Ma. Teresa Constantino led the distribution of tablets during the turnover program yesterday, January 10.

ARD Baguio told the crowd that the tablets are intended to help the learners and that DepEd Region XII always has the learners in mind.

"I always tell teachers this: Whenever you are at a crossroads and you need to make a decision -- do not make a decision for the Regional Director, do not make a decision for the Superintendent, do not make a decision for your principal -- do it for the learner," he said.

Fresh from winning in the National Literacy Awards, Mayor Constantino is thankful that schools in the municipality have been chosen as recipients of the BE-LCP tablets and reminded the parents to also do their part in their children's education.

Ascer Abellon, school head of Tangali Integrated School, said that he will ensure maximum use of technology in classroom instruction by monitoring the usage of said tablets according to their purpose.

In addition to the tablets, ARD Baguio and the Curriculum and Learning Management Division also distributed gifts to the learners, while the Education Support Service Division gave the learners dental care kits and conducted a medical checkup for the parents.
