The hiring process for teaching positions in DepEd Sarangani continues as applicants participate in interviews and teaching demonstrations conducted in the different municipalities. Pursuant to the Division Memorandum 44 series of 2022, which sets the guidelines for the recruitment, selection and placement of personnel for kindergarten, elementary, junior high school, and senior high school teaching positions for the school year 2022-2023, the School Screening Committees, Division Sub-Selection Committees, and Division Selection Committee have started the verification of documents, conduct of interviews, and rating of the applicants’ teaching demonstrations. Head of ICTS-EdTech Mark Anthony Sy challenged the current concept of a computer laboratory when he talked about the Digital Rise Program during the opening program of the Training and Upskilling of Teachers on “LR on WHEeLS” and Enhancement of Content in the LMS, yesterday. Showing a photo of a usual computer laboratory in a Philippine public school, he said, “Ganyan ang ating concept [ng computer laboratory], pero binasag ‘yan ng pandemya.” He added that computer laboratories in schools should be able to provide an opportunity for learners to learn using distance learning modalities. “With the help of our innovative ITO in Sarangani, it [was] all made possible,” he added. Aiming to improve the quality of service it provides to its clientele, DepEd Sarangani gathered its key personnel for a two-day refresher on February 23 and 24 at Venue 88 Convention Center, General Santos City, on the different modules of the National Quality Management System. It has been a productive Saturday for the LR on WHEeLS team as they start the field testing of the new iteration of the project. Now installed in over 60 schools in the Province, the LR on WHEeLS or Learning Resources on WiFi Hub for Expanded e-Learning in Sarangani continues to engage more learners by bringing it closer to the community. At Tokawal National High School, the school premises and the households around the Barangay Hall are already connected to the LR on WHEeLS network and the learners are already enjoying the benefits of online learning without having to pay for an internet connection. In order to support their thriving sinamak production, the Department of Trade and Industry Sarangani, inked an agreement with James L. Chiongbian National Trade School for Shared Services Facilities (SSF). The SSF is a project of DTI that provides micro, small, and medium enterprises like the JLCNTS Teachers Association equipment to enhance their production rate.  JLCNTS received a package consisting vinegar acetator kit, industry grade blenders and stove, and other materials, which will reduce the length of sinamak or spiced vinegar production from one month to just two weeks.  Schools Division Superintendent Gildo G. Another research team from Alabel National Science High School bagged yet another award, this time from the University of the Philippines-ALCHEMES Research Fair. The team composed of Ernest Gabonada, Trisha Belle Pactes, and Francine Sanchez bested 29 other schools from all over the country in the applied science category. From all the finalists, the roster was cut down to five, and then, in the championship round, the research team from AlSci went head-to-head against the team from Philippines Science High School CALABARZON Region Campus, where they emerged as the champion, and the people's choice as well.
