Sarangani promotes reading as key to discovery and learning

As the nation celebrates National Reading Month 2022, promoting love for reading among students and raising awareness of the vital role of reading and literacy in developing critical thinking in the youth, DepEd Sarangani conducted programs anchored to the theme of cultivating genuine love for reading among the learners. CLAFI, LGU Malungon bring home top prizes in 2022 National Literacy Awards

SOCCSKSARGEN’S entries to the National Literacy Awards, both coming from the province of Sarangani, won 2nd and 3rd prizes during the awarding ceremony held in Mandaluyong City, December 1. Conrado and Ladislawa Alcantara Foundation, Inc. (CLAFI), bagged 2nd place in the non-government organizations category, bringing home a cash prize of Php 80,000.00 and a trophy. In the local government units category, the municipality of Malungon garnered 3rd place with a cash prize of Php 60,000 plus a trophy. The 2022 National Literacy Awards aims to recognize best literacy practices carried out by local government units and nongovernment organizations that help alleviate poverty, provide livelihood opportunities, address welfare needs, promote freedom, and make education facilities accessible, among others. Commitment to Support IP Education renewed during IP Month Celebration

Leaders of the different Indigenous Cultural Communities in Sarangani, led by Indigenous People Mandatory Representative Fred Basino and Provincial Tribal Chieftain Datu Edmund Pangilan, gathered in Upo, Maitum, Sarangani Province to renew their support for the implementation of IP education during the culmination program of IP Month celebration dubbed as Kasbakas, October 20. Kasbakas is a Blaan word that is used to mean working together or unity. In support of the celebration of the Global Handwashing Day, the SOCCSKSARGEN Bloggers a.k.a. Sox Bloggers conducted an event called Fun Day with the Kids of Pag-asa Integrated School, today, October 13, 2022. Sox Bloggers is a community of bloggers, vloggers, and social media influencers who are creating content to show the “real image” of SOCCSKSARGEN to the world and help promote local businesses, events, places, and activities. For their project SPOT (Service. Partnership. Outreach. Thanksgiving.) the Sox Bloggers partnered with International Pharmaceuticals, Inc. SDO Sarangani to build 12 TLSs for 461 displaced learners at Lun Padidu CES

A month before the targeted return of 100% in-person classes this school year, learners at Lun Padidu Central Elementary School may have to extend its blended learning delivery modality after a fire razed nine classrooms to the ground and severely burned two others just before midnight of October 6. 155 TICs undergo School Heads Dev't Program

In order to develop competencies required of a school head, 155 teachers-in-charge from all over Sarangani participated in the three-day School Heads Development Program earlier this week at the National Educators Academy of the Philippines-Region XII, Quirino Avenue, General Santos City. The training focused on the different domains under the Philippine Professional Standards for School Heads, which are: Leading Strategically, Managing School Operations and Resources, Focusing on Teaching and Learning, Developing Self and Others, and Building Connections. Not just one, but two of the best photos in the Regional Eliminations of the Civil Service Commission’s online photography competition were taken by two artists from the Schools Division of Sarangani. Darryl B. Soncados, senior high school teacher at Glan School of Arts and Trades bagged this year’s top prize with his entry entitled, “Resiliency in Honing Future Leaders.” “The CSC’s theme for this year is about resiliency.
