DepEd Sarangani holds first virtual student presscon

For the first time, DepEd Sarangani gathered campus journalists and school paper advisers in a virtual schools press conference. Participants from the seven municipalities of Sarangani joined the Virtual DSPC 2021 in the comforts of their homes via Facebook and Google Meet on November 16-19, 2021. 6 Sarangani schools named Region XII's 'most learning-focused schools'

DepEd Sarangani bagged six out of 15 categories in the regional evaluation for the Secretary's Award for Excellence in Curriculum and Instruction. These schools are: Malungon Central Elementary School at Malapatan Central Elementary School for large and very large schools categories, respectively, in K-3 level; Maasim Central Elementary School for large category in Grades 4-6 level; Leopoldo Dacera Sr. Integrated School for small schools category in Junior High School; and Alabel National High School and James L. DepEd Sarangani intensifies campaign for COVID-19 vaccination

In support of the national government’s call to promote COVID-19 vaccination, DepEd Sarangani conducted a series of orientation activities to educate its teaching and non-teaching personnel on important information about the vaccination program. According to the survey administered by the Health and Nutrition Section, 5,075 or 89.92% of the teacher-respondents are willing to be vaccinated while 569 or 10.08% hesitated. Among the non-teaching personnel, 569 or 79% said yes to vaccination, while 152 or 21% said otherwise. The hesitation of some people towards vaccination stems from reports about the adverse effects of the vaccine. “It is normal for our body to exhibit reaction after vaccination because our body is developing protection against the vaccine, which will protect us when the real threat of infection comes,” Suzette Lubonting, Nurse II, explained. Young Sarangan Researchers bag gold award from Young Inventor's Journal

 A team of Senior High School learners from Alabel National Science High School bagged a gold medal from the Young Inventor’s Journal for their policy paper on How to Rebuild a Better World Post COVID-19. The team composed of Paul John delos Reyes, Pearl Angeli Santander, Krystell Ferrer, Darlene Sarabosquez, and Natasha Loot is the only qualifier from the Philippines that made it to the Top 10 out of over 100 entries from different countries. The team presented their paper virtually during the online defense, April 17. The team re-imagined education post-pandemic and drafted a policy for curriculum and pedagogical transformation. DepEd, Smart brings e-learning to unenergized communities

Sitio Datal Basak may not always be visible in the eyes of the people in the flatlands, but it is never forgotten.   Cradled by the mountains of Maasim, Sarangani Province, and usually wrapped in thick mist, Sitio Datal Basak is home to a community of Blaans who rely on farming for their sustenance. Once sullied by the presence of a left-leaning organization, the establishment of the DepEd-run Datal Basak IP School and the road project, connected the once-isolated community to imminent progress.   Although it remains unenergized, the community relies on solar power to provide light at night. The solar power system donated to the school by its partners is an opportunity that the Schools Division of Sarangani took advantage of to realize one of its projects to help learners in last-mile schools. LR ON WHEeLS rolls in Upo National High School

In Upo National High School where access to the Internet is difficult, learners still get the chance to experience e-learning through DepEd Sarangani's LR on WHEeLS or Learning Resources on WiFi Hub for Expanded e-Learning in Sarangani. Upo NHS is the first in MAKIMA area to establish their own LR on WHEeLS setup. Based on the survey that they conducted, out of their 240 learners, 72 have gadgets. They enrolled those learners in the LR on WHEeLS learning management system. In addition, they are also developing a scheme to allow more learners to experience said technology using the tablets, which the school received through the DepEd Computerization Program. School Head Himelda N. Napila said that they will identify the learners who will benefit from the DCP tablets and arrange a schedule of utilization. Grade 9 learner Rolart Nahz A.
